Getting Started with Opportunity Fit Score
Procurement Sciences' Automated Opportunity Fit Score feature takes the guesswork out of finding the right opportunities for your business. Instead of manually sifting through hundreds of government opportunities, the platform automatically analyzes and scores opportunities based on your Company Profile and Past Performance, so you can focus your energy on the bids most likely to result in a win.
What Is Opportunity Fit Score?
Opportunity Fit Score is a feature within Bid Search that automatically scores government contracting opportunities against your company every day. It uses your Company Profile, Past Performance entries, and your Default Saved Search to surface the most relevant opportunities for your business, each scored and ranked so you can quickly prioritize what to pursue.
How It Works
Every 24 hours, the platform pulls new and updated opportunities from your Default Saved Search and runs up to 25 of them per person through Procurement Sciences' intelligent scoring engine. Each opportunity receives a Fit Score out of 100 based on five criteria, each scored 1–10:
Technical Capability — How well your company's capabilities, core competencies, and NAICS codes align with the opportunity's requirements
Customer Relationship — Your existing relationship history with the issuing agency, based on your Past Performance records
Meet Certification Requirements — Whether your certifications and facility clearances match what the notice requires
Past Performance — How your prior contract work compares to the scope and agency in the notice
Strategic Alignment — How well the opportunity fits your company's stated strategy and focus areas
The overall score is calculated as the sum of the five criteria scores × 2, for a total out of 100:
80–100 (High Fit) — Strong alignment. Worth prioritizing.
40–79 (Mid Fit) — Partial alignment. Review per-criterion rationales — a mid score with standout categories may still be worth pursuing.
1–39 (Low Fit) — Limited alignment. Likely safe to skip unless a rationale highlights something the score missed.
All of your scored opportunities are displayed together in Bid Search, making it easy to review, compare, and track the best matches at a glance. Scores are saved at the tenant level — if a teammate's saved search scored an opportunity, you'll see that score too.
What's In Scope
Automated nightly Fit Scores currently apply to Federal opportunities only. Forecasts are out of scope and won't receive scores. SLED and GSA eBuy opportunities also aren't included in the nightly run, but you can still generate Fit Scores for them on demand — see below.
Need a Score Right Now?
For opportunities you want to evaluate immediately — or for opportunities that aren't covered by automated nightly scoring (SLED and GSA eBuy) — click the question mark icon next to any opportunity in Bid Search results. Once scored, that score is visible across your tenant.
Understanding Your Scores
You don't need to dig through reports to understand why an opportunity was scored the way it was. Hover over any opportunity in Bid Search to see a breakdown of the per-criterion scores, the rationale for each, and the requirement checklist extracted from the notice (services and products requested, NAICS codes, set-asides, PSC codes, required certifications). This transparency helps you make confident, informed pursuit decisions.
Important Limitation
The Fit Score evaluates the opportunity description and metadata only. It does not read attached files (PDFs, Word docs, etc.). If key requirements live only in attachments, they will not be reflected in the score. Always review the per-criterion rationales before deciding to pursue or pass.
Setting Yourself Up for Success
To get the most accurate and useful Fit Scores, complete these two steps before relying on the feature:
Set your Default Saved Search. Fit Score always pulls from your Default Saved Search in Bid Search. Make sure the saved search you want to use is marked as your default. If you haven't created one yet, set it up with the filters that best represent the opportunities your company pursues. To learn how, read this help article.
Keep your Company Profile and Past Performance up to date. Your Fit Scores are only as good as the information behind them. The Company Profile and Past Performance categories in your Knowledge Base are editable by Super Admins and Admins — coordinate with those roles to keep capabilities, certifications, NAICS, strategy, and past performance current. The more complete and accurate this information, the more precise your scores will be.
Where to Find It
Opportunity Fit Score lives inside Bid Search. Once your Default Saved Search and Company Profile are in place, scored opportunities will begin populating automatically — refreshing every 24 hours with new matches. You can also click the question mark icon on any opportunity to score it on demand.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often are my Fit Scores updated?
Scores refresh every 24 hours. Each night, the platform pulls new and updated opportunities from your Default Saved Search and scores up to 25 per person automatically — no action needed.
Can I score an opportunity on demand?
Yes. Click the question mark icon next to any opportunity in Bid Search results to score it immediately. Once scored, it's visible across your tenant.
Why does an opportunity I didn't add show a score?
Scores are saved at the tenant level. If another user in your tenant scored an opportunity (or it appeared in their Default Saved Search), that score will display for you as well.
Does the score read attached files on the notice?
No. It currently evaluates only the opportunity description and metadata. If critical details live only in attachments, they won't influence the score — review per-criterion rationales to catch what the score might miss.
Why don't I see scores on my SLED or GSA eBuy opportunities?
Automated nightly scoring currently runs against Federal opportunities only. SLED and GSA eBuy opportunities aren't included in the nightly run, but you can score any of them on demand by clicking the question mark icon. Forecasts are out of scope and can't be scored.
Can I change which opportunities are used for Fit Scoring?
Yes. Fit Score pulls from your Default Saved Search, so updating that search will change the pool of opportunities being scored. Adjust your filters and set the updated search as your default.
Why are my scores inaccurate or not what I expected?
The most common reason is an incomplete or outdated Company Profile or Past Performance entry. Review both to make sure your capabilities, certifications, and past projects are current and accurate. Updates will be reflected in the next nightly refresh — or you can use the question mark icon to rescore on demand.
Do I need to manually run scoring?
No. Once your Default Saved Search and Company Profile are in place, scoring runs automatically every night. You can also score on demand whenever you want.
What if I don't have a saved search set up yet?
You'll need to create one before automated scoring can work for you. Head to Bid Search, apply the filters that best represent the opportunities your company pursues, save the search, and mark it as your default.
How is Fit Score different from a regular saved search?
A saved search returns any opportunity that matches your filters. Fit Score goes a step further — it scores each result against your specific Company Profile and Past Performance, so you can see not just what's available, but what's actually the best fit for your business.
