FAQ: AI Chat

Common questions about using AI Chat in Awarded.AI.

Written by Amber Wartenberg

How do I start a new chat session?

To start a new chat session, simply click "New Session" and then select "New Chat."

How can I find my prior chat sessions with Awarded AI?

To find your prior chat sessions with Awarded AI, you can navigate to the conversation history section in the Awarded AI interface. Typically, this is displayed as a sidebar or a menu option labeled "History."

How can I attach files for Awarded AI, and what kind of files can the AI read?

You can add files to any chat in two ways:

  1. Upload directly to chat: Click the + in the chat box and select "Upload files to this session," or drag and drop a file into the chat. When you drag and drop, you can choose:

    • Chat only: the file stays in that chat and won't clutter your Datahub.

    • Also save to Datahub: the file also goes into My Files so you can use it anywhere.

  2. Attach from Datahub: Click the + and select "Attach files from Datahub" to pick files you've already uploaded.

Awarded AI can read and analyze many file types, including text documents (.txt, .docx), spreadsheets (.csv, .xlsx), and PDFs. File size and type limits match Datahub. Large files can take a moment to process, and the AI can read a file once processing finishes.

To see what's attached, click the paperclip icon. Your files are grouped as "For this chat only" and "From Datahub." To remove a file you uploaded directly to the chat, click the X next to it. This permanently removes the file, so you'll need to upload it again if you want to use it later.

Good to know about chat-only files:

  • They're only available in that chat. They won't show up in Datahub, search, other chats, Assistants, or Workflows. Anyone the chat is shared with can see and use them.

  • They're permanently removed after 90 days with no new messages in the chat, or right away if the chat is deleted. Past answers and citations stay in the chat, but the file can't be opened anymore.

How do I access the Prompt Library?

The Prompt Library can be found at the bottom of the chat box. There are hundreds of featured prompts that are pre-built and ready to help get any user started. You can also create your own private prompts or share them with your team.

What is semantic search?

A semantic search is when a user selects and attaches a file to their Chat bar and prompts the AI with a very detailed and specific prompt to instruct the AI on what exactly they are asking the AI to do. This method instructs the AI to search and use any information from the selected files that correlates with the instructions it was given.

What is direct injection prompting?

Direct injection prompting is essentially copying a specific section of a solicitation and pasting it into the chat. Provide the AI with instructions on what you want the AI to do with the specific section. This type of prompting gives the AI more detail to ensure that the response is directly correlated to the selected section of the solicitation. Using this method allows a user to prompt the AI with more simple instructions.

What are citations?

When a user attaches files to their AI Chat session, the AI can then use those files to inform its response. For example, a user could attach past performances and ask the AI to explain why a particular past performance is better for including in your proposal for an opportunity.

Pro Tip: If you cannot tell whether or not the AI Chat incorporated the attached files in generating a response, check for citations. If there aren't citations that means the AI did not reference the attached files.

How do I send an AI Chat responses to AI Draft?

  1. Manually: Copy the text you want, then paste it into a new AI Draft session.

  2. Automatically: Use the icons at the bottom of any AI response:

  • Send to Draft: sends the response straight to a new Draft session

  • Copy: copies the text so you can paste it yourself
